Living History and Open Green Space for Everyone!
Renowned golf course designer Donald Ross created a beautiful golf course eighty years ago and it is enjoyed by thousands of people of different races, religions and socio-economic backgrounds. Rackham Golf Course has become an admired and vital part of the Huntington Woods community especially since it comprises 17% of all the land in our City.
The City of Detroit owns the course and is struggling with a very difficult financial situation. Initially, the Detroit City administration wanted to sell Rackham for residential and commercial development. We thought that would be a terrible mistake since development of this beautiful land would destroy a piece of history and negatively alter the character of Huntington Woods.
That’s why the City of Huntington Woods is hoping to save Rackham. Please be sure to check back for updates on our efforts to Save Rackham.
